Democracy In The Middle East

Well, George W. Bush wanted the Palestinians to have elections. Now they've had them. And they elected a terrorist organization.

Is anyone truly suprised by this?

They elected a group which has not only admitted to, but is proud of, killing innocent civilians with bombs.

This is a group that chose to fight the Israeli government by walking into popular nightclubs with bombs strapped to their chests. This is a group which chose to bomb commuter buses and college campuses. This is a group that has never even attempted to apologize for their random slaughter of fellow human beings. For years, they were Nazis without a country. Now they're one step closer to having one.

Who's fault is it? Israel, for keeping up its restrictive policies? The U.S. for making the arabs feel threatened? I don't think so. In the end, the Palestinians chose a group that has chosen murder over peace over and over again. They chose terrorists. And there's no excuse for that.

As bad as Bush is, and as many people that his policies have negetively affected... at least his intentions are good (I hear those snickers, Chomsky). The same cannot be said for Hamas, which has stated its only goal is to wipe out the Jews and Israel. Their campaign promise was murder. Lets hope they don't try to follow through on it.

Ironically enough... Hamas didn't want a victory, says The National Review's Emanuele Ottolenghi.
