We're All Related

Hands Across The World

All us Ashkenazi Jews anyway. A new study revealed that Ashkenazi Jews (From Central and Eastern Europe) can all be traced back to 4 women (the original "Jewish Mothers").

Who were these four women? I smell a book in the making.

Its amazing to think about how all human beings came from one source. I don't wanna get all religious here-- its a scientific fact as well. At some point, long ago, there was the original human being, whether he was Adam or Koko the man-like gorilla. And this should instill in all of us a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood that should spur us to resolve our differences and work towards peace with one another. It should spur us to charity and compassion, not war and indifference. Adam and Eve weren't wealthy people, and we should remember that when we talk about how to respond to the needs of the poor. We are the world, we are the children, etc.

SO as part of my New Year's effort to improve myself, I'm going to treat everyone as if they're somehow related to me. Except for the girls I hook up with. Cause that would be weird. I think if everyone did the same, this world would be a lot better place.

A Few Words On The Giants And Jets

So the New York Giants lost. Miserably. Which is what happens when you start guys who were sitting on the couch in December. Terrell Buckley, who got absolutely burned by Steve Smith on what seemed like 20 plays, used to be a star back when he was with the Dolphins. But that was like 30 years ago. I could have played cornerback, and got burnt just as badly.

And Eli? Oh man. That one wobbly pass which he threw ACROSS the field, right into the waiting arms of a Panthers defender? What was that?

But as pathetic as the Giants were, they didn't do quite as badly as the Jets did this weekend, and the Jets didn't even play.

Coach Herman Edwards brought the Jets to the playoffs three times in five years. Which is pretty damn good in this wacky NFL (Not one team that made the playoffs in the NFC this year was in them last year)and was the best any coach of the Jets ever did. Ever. It's not his fault that the Jets lost to injury, in order of importance, Curtis Martin (he was injured all year, despite playing anyway), Chad Pennington, Kevin Mawae, Jason Fabini, Jay Fiedler, Wayne Chrebet and Beer Man Mike McLarty.

He was the cheapest head coach in the NFL, at only 2 million a year. Any he repeatedly stated his commitment to the Jets organization.

And today, the Jets traded him to Kansas City, a fellow AFC team, for a 4th round pick.

A Fourth Round Pick!!!!

I know Tom Brady was a 6th rounder. And so was former Broncos star Terrell Davis. But I mean, a 4th rounder? That's the 121st best player in college football. Will that solve the Jets' problems?

Kansas City's 4th round pick last year was, I am not making this up, Craphonso Thorpe.

And who replaces Herm? Jim Haslett has been mentioned. He's a great coach. Why, his New Orleans Saints had a 3-13 season. That's one game worse than Herm did, but who's countin?

I hear Rich Kotite is available.

Jets GM Terry Bradway used to work for the Chiefs. Hmm. I wonder if he could have been helping his former team out? You think?

From MSNBC:
Chiefs General Manager Carl Peterson said Monday that Jets general manager Terry Bradway, not Peterson, made the first move.

“Terry and I talk a lot, as all general managers do,” he said. “But he’s the one who said, ‘Hey, would you be interested (in Edwards)?’ And I said, ‘Certainly.’ I never talked to him till I got permission. Now, Terry talked with him and I think, obviously, they shared some things amongst the two of them.”
The Jets have the 4th pick in this year's draft. Which is just low enough to miss out on Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, and probably Vince Young. A.J. Hawk would be a nice player, but with the Jets' decrepit offense, can they afford not to go with a QB or running back? Regardless, given the Jets' draft history, they'll pick Anthony Becht again.

It's going to be a long offseason.
