Chivalry, Bush Style

U.S. Kidnaps Suspected Insurgents' Wives

At a certain point, don't conservatives get a little queasy thinking about all the evil our government is involved in?
In one memo, a civilian Pentagon intelligence officer described what happened when he took part in a raid on an Iraqi suspect's house in Tarmiya, northwest of Baghdad, on May 9, 2004. The raid involved Task Force (TF) 6-26, a secretive military unit formed to handle high-profile targets.

"During the pre-operation brief it was recommended by TF personnel that if the wife were present, she be detained and held in order to leverage the primary target's surrender," wrote the 14-year veteran officer.

He said he objected, but when they raided the house the team leader, a senior sergeant, seized her anyway.

"The 28-year-old woman had three young children at the house, one being as young as six months and still nursing," the intelligence officer wrote. She was held for two days and was released after he complained, he said.
I mean, what would be out-of-bounds for the Bush cartel? So far they've spied on people without a warrant, tortured and sent people to be tortured in secret prisons, and now apparently, they're kidnapping nursing mothers.

Ironically...
Iraq's deputy justice minister, Busho Ibrahim Ali, dismissed such claims, saying hostage-holding was a tactic used under the ousted Saddam Hussein dictatorship, and "we are not Saddam."
No. They're not Saddam. They just think his tactics were genius.

Deny it or defend it... if there's any grain of truth to this practice, the message needs to be sent loud and clear that it will not be tolerated. This may not be an ordinary war, but the rules of engagement (and of society) should nonetheless be tantamount. If we break the rules, we encourage others to do so as well.

Evil begets evil.

Idiot America:

Read this in a Yahoo article:
Chris DeCaro, 20, of Farmington, Mich., praises the president, particularly for his handling of terrorism. "He runs this country not as a politician but as a businessman who does things that need to be done," DeCaro says.
Okay, I realize people still support Bush. That's ok. Plenty of people also watch Fear Factor. But.. um... "Businessman"????? The guy took us from a surplus to the largest debt ever in just 4 years. Maybe Bush is like a businessman... who worked at Enron.

"Does things that need to be done"??????

Money Spent on Iraq War (estimated): A Gadzillion Dollars

Money Spent on Hurricane Katrina Affected Areas (estimated): Three wooden nickels
Money Spent on Health Care: $0
Number of Soldiers Defending At-Risk Chemical And Nuclear Plants: A Stack of Chuck Norris Movies

But yeah, I guess kidnapping wives in a country half a world away is much more important than "things that need to get done" at home.

Sinking Ship

J E T S...

Woe is the New York Jets.

First, they let Coach Herman Edwards go to Kansas City.

Then they hire Bill Belichick's waterboy to be head coach.

Then they let offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger (who they just got last year) go.

Who are they replacing him with? What offensive mastermind????

Well... the New York Times reports they're considering the offensive coordinators of the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Texans. Those guys' combined record last year? 5 wins, 27 losses.

Let the rebuilding year commence.
Democracy In The Middle East

Well, George W. Bush wanted the Palestinians to have elections. Now they've had them. And they elected a terrorist organization.

Is anyone truly suprised by this?

They elected a group which has not only admitted to, but is proud of, killing innocent civilians with bombs.

This is a group that chose to fight the Israeli government by walking into popular nightclubs with bombs strapped to their chests. This is a group which chose to bomb commuter buses and college campuses. This is a group that has never even attempted to apologize for their random slaughter of fellow human beings. For years, they were Nazis without a country. Now they're one step closer to having one.

Who's fault is it? Israel, for keeping up its restrictive policies? The U.S. for making the arabs feel threatened? I don't think so. In the end, the Palestinians chose a group that has chosen murder over peace over and over again. They chose terrorists. And there's no excuse for that.

As bad as Bush is, and as many people that his policies have negetively affected... at least his intentions are good (I hear those snickers, Chomsky). The same cannot be said for Hamas, which has stated its only goal is to wipe out the Jews and Israel. Their campaign promise was murder. Lets hope they don't try to follow through on it.

Ironically enough... Hamas didn't want a victory, says The National Review's Emanuele Ottolenghi.

Democrats and Republicans Are Idiots, Study Finds

And finally... Are the scientologists trying to prevent us from seeing a Katie Holmes sex scene??

It's weird. Many famous female scientologists went nude before their conversion... but none after. And now that Katie appears to be the vessel for the reincarnation of L. Ron Hubbard, is it possible we may never see her glorious, glorious mammaries ever again?

Mimi Rogers, Tom's first wife, went fully nude in the appropriately titled "Full Body Massage." After conversion to scientology... never acted again. Well, at least not in any movie anyone ever saw.

Get out now, Katie, before its too late.

Tighty Whitey Police Fine Boxer Baring Pranksters

No Pants, No Subway

Apparently, pants are required on NYC Subways.

6 were cuffed and arrested. Boxer-baring is of course, outlawed under the Patriot Act. No word on whether the arrested were sent to Guantanemo Bay.

Some pictures, here.

These people are pretty funny. I mean, they're improv-ers, which means they often think they're funnier then they really are, but still, this stuff is part of what makes New York so great.
